I am so thankful that the film I chose to make in South Africa was based on a true story. Why? In the process of bringing the story of Gerrit's life to the screen, I gained a new friend and partner in the gospel - Gerrit Wolfaardt himself. To paraphrase the words of Jesus spoken in reference to Nathanael in the Gospel of John, Gerrit is an Afrikaner, indeed, in whom there is no guile. He was the murderous Saul of Tarsus; today, he is the Paul of the New Testament who embodies the gospel of Jesus in every fibre of his being. He is an unflinching man who has accepted the necessity of owning up to his wrongdoings and setting them right, regardless of the cost. This documentary will introduce you to the man whose "final solution" of darkness and hatred has now been swallowed up in the victory of God's love.
